RITA Subpoena Update

1/2/2020

Subpoenas have been mailed to taxpayers that neglected to file a municipal income tax return – you must file, even if you do not have income (exempt).

If you receive a subpoena, you can avoid an appearance by simply e-filing returns at: www.ritaohio.com, mailing or faxing to RITA the documents listed on the subpoena.

Every effort is made to properly staff the program based upon the number of subpoenas issued, and wait times may vary throughout the day.   Taxpayers who elect not to wait may leave the required tax documents with RITA staff and will be considered in compliance with the subpoena.

E-filing is the preferred and most expedient method of filing, but if you are unable to e-file, mail or fax your documents to:

Attn: Compliance Department 198

Regional Income Tax Agency

PO BOX 470538

Broadview Heights, OH  44147-0538

OR

Faxing to: 440-922-3510

Please do not submit documents directly to any of RITA’s offices, to any specific individual at RITA or to any address or fax number that you may use for other RITA correspondence as this will result in a delay in processing of the documents and could also result in receiving an unnecessary subpoena.
