Yard Waste / Leaf Pickup
Branches: Wood or branches must be put into bundles that do not weigh more than 35 lbs. each and have been tied with rope or twine. They must be no longer than 4' in length or 4" in diameter.
Grass Clippings: We encourage residents to use a mulching mower when possible. Keeping the heavy bags of grass out of the regular trash will save on the tonnage cost.
Leaves: Curbside leaf pick up usually begins the 3rd week of October and runs through the first week of December. Of course weather is a major factor in this process. We begin at one end of the city and work our way through the streets in order. When finished we will begin again and work through the city until all the leaves are removed or weather prohibits the pick up.
You may receive a phone call letting you know that we will be in your ward soon for collection. This is just a notification to let you know approximately where we are with the pickup. This is not an exact date for pick up on your street. Please exercise patience. If you have an issue with leaves blowing, or burning your tree-lawn grass, then we suggest bagging them for your regular weekly trash collection.
Christmas Tree Recycling: Please place your clean tree at curbside for pick up on your regular trash day. Trees must be free of all decorations including tinsel, lights and tree bags. The city will collect these during the month of January.
