Project RAIN
(Residents Acting In Nature preservation)
ANNOUNCEMENT -
Project R. A. I. N. at City Hall
As many residents already know, our Project R. A. I. N. (Residents Acting in Nature Preservation) efforts have focused on such projects as rain barrels and rain gardens, both of which can be seen at the City Hall campus. In addition to our recent nature preservation efforts, we are excited to announce that we have recently been awarded an Ohio EPA Surface Water Improvement Project Grant in the amount of $256,530.00.
Generally, the project will include:
- Two (2) bioretentin cells that will treat water runoff,
- One (1) underground, rainwater harvesting tank to be used for irrigation,
- Permeable pavers in front of City Hall,
- New asphalt pavement to permit drainage to the new cells,
- Fall Public workshop (To Be Announced), and,
- A public outreach Kiosk illustrating Storm Water Best Management Practices located at City Hall
This award will aide us in our continued efforts to improve the West Creek's water quality, and reduce the volume of water being discharged to the West Creek; reduce City Hall water consumption by harvesting water for use in the landscape areas around City Hall; provide public education and outreach to citizens, contractors, and visitors; and improve the vehicle and pedestrian safety in the City Hall parking lot by reducing the volume of water being discharged to the West Creek. Additionally, this project will demonstrate how to utilize storm water BMPs to solve flooding and vegetative growth problems with an aesthetically pleasing approach.
As we look forward to beginning this exciting project, please check our website for updated information regarding Project R.A.I.N. at City Hall, or call the Engineering Office at (216) 525-6226. Thank you for your continued support of your community's Nature Preservation efforts!
