Project RAIN

(Residents Acting In Nature preservation)

Project Residents Acting In Nature PreservationThe residents of Seven Hills are among the leaders in Northeast Ohio for nature preservation. The residents were put to the task and given recycle carts and you have responded by utilizing the carts thus reducing the amount of refuse being dumped in the landfills. In our community, approximately 1,300 tons of recyclables were collected in 2008. The next challenge we are introducing to the community is reducing the amount of rainwater runoff from your property. "Project R.A.I.N." is our community's initiative to reduce rain water run-off by encouraging residents to install a rain barrel on their property. We encourage you attend the Rain Barrel Workshop (see the announcement below) and become a "Project R.A.I.N." participant. The rain barrel and diverter kits are relatively inexpensive and easy to install. The rain barrel will reduce your utility bills, reduce the monthly new sewer district storm water fee, minimize downstream erosion, improve stream water quality, and provide for natural gardening. We estimate that if 90% of our residents install a rain barrel at their property, over 250,000 gallons of water would be removed from the City's infrastructure and streams during a normal rain event. Collectively, the Seven Hills residents will make a difference. Thank you for your efforts to make Seven Hills a "Green Community". Please contact the Engineering Department for more information.
